Our Story

Kindred was founded on a shared belief that children thrive when they are deeply known, intentionally supported, and surrounded by relationships rooted in trust and care. Co-owners Aymee and Audrey came together through their shared commitment to early learning that honors children as capable individuals while also recognizing the real and varied needs of modern families.

With extensive experience in early childhood education, they had each witnessed both the strengths and limitations of traditional care models. Too often, programs were rigid where families needed flexibility, or focused heavily on outcomes without honoring the developmental process children move through to get there. Through this shared understanding, the vision for Kindred began to take shape.

Kindred was created in response to that gap—between what early learning often looks like and what it can be when relationships, inclusion, and growth are placed at the center.

The Heart of Kindred

At its core, Kindred is built on relationships. The program believes learning begins with connection—between children and educators, families and teachers, and within the broader community. When children feel safe, seen, and valued, they are more willing to explore, take risks, and grow with confidence.

Kindred’s philosophy centers on inclusivity, individuality, and a growth-oriented mindset. Children are recognized as unique learners who develop at their own pace and bring their own strengths, challenges, and perspectives into the learning environment. Mistakes are embraced as meaningful opportunities for learning, reflection, and resilience. Growth is viewed not as a destination, but as an ongoing and celebrated process.

This philosophy guides every aspect of the program—from classroom environments and daily interactions to how schedules are structured and how families are supported.

What Makes Kindred Different

Kindred is intentionally designed to bridge high-quality early learning with the diverse realities of family life. Programs are structured to provide continuity across age groups, allowing children to grow within a familiar, supportive environment rather than transitioning based on age alone. Movement between programs is guided by developmental readiness, confidence, and individual growth, with families actively involved in the process.

Another defining feature of Kindred is its commitment to supporting families with nontraditional schedules. Extended hours and weekend care are not viewed as add-ons or exceptions, but as an intentional part of the program’s design. This approach allows families to access consistent, relationship-based care beyond traditional hours while maintaining stability and continuity for children.

Kindred also places strong emphasis on individualized learning and small-community connection. By truly knowing each child and family, educators are able to respond thoughtfully and intentionally rather than relying on one-size-fits-all approaches.

A Shared Commitment

As owner-educators, Aymee and Audrey bring both professional expertise and personal investment to the work of building Kindred. The program is rooted in a shared commitment to creating a place where children and families experience a genuine sense of belonging, trust, and partnership.

Kindred is more than a place of care—it is a community built together with families, grounded in respect, connection, and shared responsibility. The team is honored to support children during some of their most formative years and remains committed to growing alongside the families they serve.
